Kasur has been playing an important role in politics since its existence as a District in 1976 and even earlier when Kasur used to be a tehsil of Lahore. According to history, before the existence of Pakistan, the people of the place which is now called Kasur, have held important positions in the governments of that time. Mian Tan Sain of Rohaywal (Kasur) Imperial Minister ,

Mian Tansain was the Jagirdar (Land-lord) of the city Kasur in 1575 AD. The ancient city of Kasur was at the areas of nowadays Rohiwal. The ruins of that are / were the mounds of Kamal Chishti And at that time the present days Kasur was just a small town and that further developed latter on in the era of Mogul King Muhammad Shah (Rangeela Badshah). Famous 12 Kots (Fortress) in Kasur are the monuments of that era.
